The space

A wonderful house in a beautiful setting. That’s likely to be your first impression of the Lazy Bear Lodge mountain retreat in Coal Creek Canyon, Colorado.

Set against a natural backdrop of a dense pine forest, this home offers 2,125 sq ft of space that’s all yours. It will give you peace, quiet and privacy on a scale few other homes in the area can offer.

As soon as you step inside, you’re sure to notice just how open, bright and roomy this place is. Lofted ceilings, multiple levels and the open plan concept deliver a spaciousness that guests appreciate.

LIVING ROOM AREA ONE
Couches and an armchair give everyone space to sit together and chat, plan the next day’s activities, Sit back and watch the wall-mounted widescreen TV, with included access to Netflix and HBO.

THE READING ROOM
A few steps down from the first lounge space is a second living room with a couch and coffee table, offering another area in which to relax. If you’re seeking somewhere to finish that book you picked up at the airport, or just want to enjoy hearing the crack of the flames in the wood stove, you’re going to love this space and its modern reading chair

THE KITCHEN
The best place to gather your family for a memorable night. Enjoy access to a fully stocked kitchen and up to date appliances, making cooking easy. A dining table with seating for six, you'll have plenty of space to enjoy your meals together in the mountains. Skylights in the kitchens lofted ceilings flood light into the room during the day.

THREE BEDROOMS
The main bedroom is full of character and includes a queen bed and plenty of space for your belongings. Slide back the barn-style door to reveal your ensuite bathroom with whirlpool jet tub and shower.

The second bedroom features another queen bed, a TV and workstation. A good bedroom for someone who needs to get a little work done on the road.

Bedroom three is ideal for any children in your group as it features a custom built Amish log bunk bed. We’ll let you sort out who gets the top bunk on the first night. XL beanbags make for a plushy room.

TWO BATHROOMS
There is an ensuite full bath in the primary bedroom and the second full bathroom has a brand new walk-in shower. The washer and drier can also be found in the second bathroom.

GAME ROOM
The most popular room in the house is the game room, which features three arcade machines with classics like Pac Man, NBA JAM and Marvel vs Capcom. There is a poker table, full size shuffleboard table, and selection of board games. There is a fold out futon in this room, which functions as the 5th bed. There is a standing desk and chair available here also.

OUTSIDE SPACE
A 600 sqft deck gives you space to sit outside and enjoy the canyon and forest. The XL outdoor table is a great place for a nice summer meal. There’s a grill, outdoor cooler, and propane fire fixture in the table. The backyard features a treehouse platform with forest and mountain views.

REMOTE WORKERS
This is truly a remote location, great for getting work done in peace and quiet. The lodge features high speed Wi-Fi through SpaceX Starlink, great for zoom, gaming, streaming, and more.

Guest access

Guests enjoy private access to the house and entire property. The driveway is accessible, but steep. AWD is required Nov-April. The roads leading to the house are paved and regularly plowed during the winter.

Hosts will be available by text or email for any issues that may arise, and there is staff on call nearby for any emergencies.

Neighborhood overview

Coal Creek Canyon is on the border of Jefferson, Gilpin and Boulder County. Gross Reservoir and Golden Gate Canyon State Park can be found within a 15-20 minute drive from the house, with Eldora Ski resort nearby in Nederland. There are a few close stores (1-10min), including a Gas Station, Liquor Store, Coffee Shop, a Pub and a Mexican restaurant.

The area is very rural, with neighbors having animals ranging from horses, donkeys, llamas, goats and more.

I will leave a list of recommended nearby actives, including some local Colorado gems.

Getting around

Lazy Bear Lodge is best accessed by car. At 7,800ft up, the area gets way more snow than the city. All-weather drive vehicles with snow tires or all-seasons tires are recommended between November and April to access the fairly steep driveway when it’s snowing. Your host has a contract with a local plow to clear heavy snow if required. Guests are not advised to rely on Uber or Lyft for pick-ups during your stay.

-All guests/ visitors must be listed and accounted for on your reservation. After check in, each additional unauthorized guest/visitor is subject to a fee of $50/ per night. If max capacity is exceeded, the reservation will be immediately terminated with no refunds.

Additional rules
- We ask that you respect the check out time due to our cleaning turnover time. There is a $50/hour charge for overstaying your reservation.

- Outdoor campfires and all forms of smoking are strictly prohibited on the entire property. This area is at a high risk for wildfires. $500 fee for any signs of smoking or outside open fires

-The Pet Fee is $40/night/dog under 70 lbs
